Christmas

As the holiday season approaches I can't help but think about how many people don't know the TRUE reason for the season. There is a nativity scene in my house, a small plastic one that kids can play with ( not breakable :D ) However, when asked who the people are the children have no response. When told that the baby is baby Jesus and that the woman is His mother Mary and the man is Joseph the children stare with blank eyes and ask who is Jesus?
Our society is losing touch with what is important in life. Christmas has become not a time of giving but a time of receiving and people expect hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of gifts; only the newest and best will do. Greed has taken precedence over respect, thankfulness and compassion.
So here is my message to you. Remember the TRUE reason for the season. It is not "Happy Holidays" folks, it "Merry CHRISTmas" for a reason. So as you sit around your tree opening stockings and gifts please show some respect and thankfulness to those who have graced you with something, no matter how big or small they obviously thought of you when they found/made that present; and most of all think of the most beautiful gift of all: the birth of Jesus., the true reason for this wonderful time of year.
